Ollie really is settling into school brilliantly although he has been a bit tearful when i have left him there. Turns out he just trying to give me a good old guilt trip! It worked!
Tuesday was D-day. A meeting to discuss Ollie progress and talk about him starting full time.
It got off to a brilliant start. The teacher saying how well he is doing though he is struggling a bit with transition. Then came the part of the meeting we were there for...... Lets just say it got a bit heated and we had to pull out the disability discrimination card out as they just would not listen to anything we said saying they wanted him to just do 1 full day a week then review after 2 weeks then up it to 2 days if he coped...........Well this was not going to happen! No matter who you deal with especially a child and more so a child with autism routine is the key! Changing his routine every 2 week before he has even had chance to get used to the changes prior it setting Ollie up for disaster! Explaining that Ollie is a child where there is no in-between, He either goes full-time or he doesn't plain and simple!
After cutting the atmosphere with a knife the meeting was halted with a promise of a call from the head to discuses the issues.
30 mins later we received that said call........ Long story short Ollie will now start full time next week with daily review meaning if he is doing ok he can go all day the following day, if he starts to struggle them WE can choose to let him have a half day
All in all i think that's a positive solution.
The rest of the week has been ok though Ollie has a bad chest again. He refluxed badly on the way to school Tuesday morning. He seems fine in himself he is quite wheezy, requiring his inhalers after the walk to school each day. No that he is letting it slow him down mind!!!
We have the long awaited appointment with his Pead on Monday. The appointment which will decided if they are going to just continue to medicate in a hope things will change which is very doubtful or if they operate to stop him refluxing altogether.
On a brighter note.
Ollie came home yesterday with a certificate for 'Today's best listener'......!!
So very proud of this little achievement!
Have a safe week end to you all
